More information has surfaced regarding independent wrestler Amber Nova’s recent DUI arrest in Orlando, Florida.
Nova, whose legal name is Amber Flora, was arrested during the early morning hours of October 23 after Orlando police stopped her vehicle and began a DUI investigation.
According to newly released police records, officers documented several observations they believed were consistent with impairment. The report states that Nova appeared dazed and confused, had bloodshot and glassy eyes, and had an odor of alcohol on her breath. Officers also described her speech as slow and said she appeared unsteady while walking.
One of the biggest new details involves the breath-testing process.
According to the report, Nova initially declined to provide a breath sample. After officers explained the potential consequences, she was given additional opportunities to complete the test.
Four attempts were ultimately made, but none produced a valid sample.
Police eventually recorded the test as a refusal.
It is important to note that the documents contain no measured blood alcohol concentration. Because no valid breath sample was recorded, there is currently no BAC number included in the available paperwork.
That does not determine the outcome of the case one way or another. Nova was arrested on suspicion of DUI, but the legal process remains ongoing and an arrest does not equal a conviction.
Nova later posted $2,000 in total bail and appeared in court on October 24. A compliance date was scheduled for November 2.
From a professional wrestling standpoint, the new information raises additional questions about what comes next for Nova.
When news of the arrest first surfaced, much of the discussion centered around whether the incident would become a temporary setback or something that could have a longer impact on her wrestling career.
With more details from the police report now public, that conversation is likely to continue.
Independent wrestling promotions will ultimately have to decide whether the unresolved legal situation affects future bookings, while Nova will have an opportunity to respond and move forward as the case develops.
There is still plenty that remains unknown, and it would be premature to make any final judgment before the legal process is completed.
For now, the situation surrounding Amber Nova remains an ongoing story.
The bigger wrestling question may eventually become whether Nova can rebuild any trust or reputation lost because of the arrest and continue moving forward with her career.
Hitting The Ropes will continue following the story as additional verified information becomes available.
